Blogging

Well, you can see from my lack of Blogging that I need to do a better job. 2009 was a great year with great Weddings and great photo sessions from Baylor to Grapevine celebrities to Ft Worth beauties. Every new wedding brings new friends and experiences. Let's see if I can do a better Blog for 2010!

Lindsay Serpone and Craig George. What a great couple. They were married at the Myers Park Event Center last night and I will be posting some photos from the event within the next day or so. The gown was fantastic! Can't say enough great things about the DJ- Matt McCarty of "In the Mix Mobile". "Sweet Art Bakery" cakes were beautiful - the Marine Core cake was spot on!

Best of luck to Lindsay and Craig...two wonderful people with some fastastic friends (and family).

They're always arguing, and spending way more than they make, but now federal lawmakers are giving advice on how to have a healthy marriage.
The U.S. government is launching a $5 million media campaign touting the healthy benefits of marriage.
"In this tight economy, if the government is spending money to encourage people to get married, I think they're spending it in the wrong place," said Fort Worth resident Will Elliott.
Ads will begin running on Facebook, Myspace and Youtube this month, targeting 18-to 30-year-old singles, claiming marriage leads to greater wealth, better health and more happiness.
"It is healthy, for a man and a woman," said Arlington resident Joe Thompson. "Because it's God's natural law."
Statistics show that fewer people are taking those age-old vows. In 1986, there were 10 marriages per 1,000 people, compared to just 7 per 1,000 people in 2008.
"It hasn't really hit me to think about getting married yet," said 26-year-old Josh Tipton. "I just enjoy the single life, I think we're more career oriented."
The campaign is spearheaded by the National Healthy Marriage Resource Center, which has also launch the website, twoofus.org, offering relationship tips for couples.

Welcome

OK, everyone asks - "What's it like to photograph a wedding -- is it tough, do you run into Zillas?"

First - We never met a bride that we didn't like. We never attended a wedding that we didn't like. Let's face it-- A wedding is the culmination of years of planning and usually a joining of two people who truly love each other and have a mutual dream of success.

By the time we arrive at a wedding location, we've met the bride several times, the groom at least once or twice and most of the time the mother-of-the-bride and perhaps a maid-of-honor. So, we are photographing people we know. You should really get along with your photographers as you will be spending a lot of time with them on your wedding day. Photographers - hey, that's plural. Yes, we are a team of at least two photographers on the day of the shoot. More on that in a later blog entry. Let's face it -- if you are shooting someone you've met before, spent a little time with and really like, the images are so much more interesting to both the photographer and the client!

Is it tough? Well, when we started way back in 1993, we paced, got nervous, worried and anything else that we could think of before the big event. Now, we're still concerned that everything goes well - we even arrive (quietly) about an hour before they expect us. But, it's just another day at the job for us. We are calm when others around us may panic. It's not tough, it's fun!

Well, this is the start of our blog, so come back often to see entries about our clients, our successes, and maybe even some of our challenges. Weddings, family events, reunions, kids, boudoir, commercial, business events and more. It is a fun job.
